Firefighters tested in extreme heat to uncover hidden injury risks
NCT ID NCT06442956
Summary
This study aimed to understand how the rapid heat stress firefighters experience in full gear affects their muscle strength, balance, and movement quality, which are key factors for injury risk. Twenty-six professional firefighters participated in tests before and after exercising in a hot room, once in regular clothes and once in full gear. The goal was to gather knowledge to help design better safety protocols and training to prevent common leg and back injuries in this high-risk occupation.
