Blood filter tested to tame dangerous heart surgery inflammation
NCT ID NCT06512623
Summary
This study tested a special blood filter used during complex heart surgery. The filter aimed to remove inflammatory substances from the blood while patients were on the heart-lung machine. Researchers wanted to see if this could reduce serious complications and organ damage after surgery. The trial involved 41 patients who were randomly assigned to receive the filter treatment plus standard care or standard care alone.
