Heart surgery breakthrough: new technique aims to stop dangerous irregular heartbeat
NCT ID NCT07312149
Summary
This study tests a new surgical technique performed during planned heart surgery to control atrial fibrillation (AF), a common irregular heartbeat that increases stroke risk. Researchers will use a special device to create scar tissue around heart areas that trigger AF, aiming to prevent its return. They'll follow 200 patients for up to 3 years to see if this approach reduces AF recurrence compared to standard care.
