New heart scan aims to predict future heart attacks in diabetics

NCT ID NCT06649305

Summary

This study is testing a new, detailed type of heart scan to see if it can better identify dangerous, fatty buildups (plaques) in the arteries of people with diabetes and heart disease. Researchers will follow about 1,500 participants for two years to see if the scan results can predict who is most likely to have serious heart problems like a heart attack. The goal is to learn how to spot high-risk plaques earlier to help guide future prevention efforts.
