First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study compared two blood pressure medicines—eplerenone and chlorthalidone—in 79 adults with obesity and high blood pressure or metabolic syndrome. The goal was to see if eplerenone could improve blood flow to the heart and reduce scarring, beyond just lowering blood pressure. Participants took one of the two drugs for 12 weeks and had heart MRI scans before and after treatment.
