MRI scans reveal secrets of heart energy in health and disease

NCT ID NCT00181259

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study uses a special MRI technique to measure how the heart produces and uses energy, without needing blood samples or tissue biopsies. Researchers will compare healthy volunteers, people with heart failure, and those with other heart conditions to see if low energy levels contribute to poor heart function. The goal is to better understand heart metabolism and develop new imaging methods for future clinical use.
