Heart surgery fluid study aims to keep patients in perfect balance
NCT ID NCT07267546
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at how the fluid used to fill the heart-lung machine before heart surgery affects the body's acid-base balance, salt levels, and fluid balance. Researchers will compare four different fluid recipes in 80 adults having either bypass surgery or aortic valve replacement. The goal is to find which fluid causes the least disturbance to the body's natural balance during and after surgery.
