Your white blood cells could help cure cancer – Here's how to donate

NCT ID NCT02821806

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study collects white blood cells from healthy volunteers to help researchers develop new immune-based cancer treatments. Participants undergo a 4-6 hour procedure called leukapheresis, where a machine separates white cells from the rest of the blood. Donors must be 18 or older, meet health criteria, and can donate every 21 days. The cells are used in the lab to improve T-cell therapies that may one day fight tumors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this research could help scientists develop better T-cell therapies that use a patient's own immune system to fight cancer.

What could go wrong

This is a sample-collection study, not a treatment trial. The cells are used for lab research, so there is no direct benefit to participants or guarantee that new therapies will result.
