Healthy donors needed to help unlock mysteries of blood cancers
NCT ID NCT05588154
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study collects blood, bone marrow, skin, saliva, and stool samples from up to 1,000 healthy volunteers aged 18 and older. The samples will be stored in a database for researchers to compare with samples from people who have myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), a group of blood disorders that can lead to cancer. The goal is to better understand how MDS develops, which could help find better treatments in the future.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If this study succeeds, it will create a valuable database of healthy biospecimens that researchers can use to better understand how myeloid malignancies develop, potentially pointing toward future treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study that does not test any treatment. It only collects samples for comparison, so it will not directly lead to a cure or therapy.
