NCT ID NCT06711627
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether providing money specifically for healthy foods during pregnancy helps minority and rural women in Arkansas avoid gaining too much weight. About 280 pregnant women will either receive standard nutrition advice or that advice plus funds to buy recommended healthy foods. Researchers will track weight gain and compare the two groups to see if food provision makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Food provision (money for healthy food)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, scalable way to help pregnant women avoid excessive weight gain and improve pregnancy outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage study focused on one state, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is behavioral and depends on participants' choices, which may limit effectiveness.
