Summary
This completed study looked at whether COVID-19 patients treated with steroids might have a reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Researchers followed 1,793 hospitalized adults who needed oxygen and received steroids for COVID-19 pneumonia. The goal was to see how well doctors followed HBV screening guidelines and how often the virus reactivated in patients who had past HBV infection.
