Splint or gel? new study aims to settle the best way to treat jaw pain

NCT ID NCT07573137

First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026

Summary

This study compares two common treatments for jaw joint (TMJ) pain: a hard plastic mouth splint versus a gel you rub on your jaw plus counseling. About 60 adults with TMJ disorders will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Researchers will measure pain levels after 1 week and 4 weeks to see which approach works better.
