Grip strength may reveal hidden clues about liver vein pressure

NCT ID NCT07289698

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 64 adults with liver cirrhosis and a history of variceal bleeding who were scheduled for a TIPS procedure. Researchers measured handgrip strength and then checked how it changed blood pressure in the portal and left gastric veins. The goal was to see if muscle function is linked to vein pressure, which could help understand complications of cirrhosis.
