First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at how changes in gut bacteria may affect the energy use of immune cells in people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Researchers will compare healthy adults and IBD patients, giving healthy volunteers a short course of antibiotics to alter their gut bacteria. All participants will consume a special fiber to track how gut bacteria process it. The goal is to better understand the link between gut microbes and immune cell metabolism, which could lead to new treatments.
