Scientists map hidden gut bacteria in search for diabetes clues

NCT ID NCT05186389

Summary

This French research study aimed to understand the role of gut bacteria in obesity and type 2 diabetes. Researchers collected and analyzed bacteria samples from the small intestine and colon of 90 participants, including people with obesity, obesity plus diabetes, and a control group. The goal was to identify specific bacterial patterns linked to these metabolic conditions, which could inform future treatments, but this study itself did not test any new therapies.
