Massive study tracks health of 32,000 gulf oil spill workers for a decade

NCT ID NCT01287000

Summary

This study is tracking the long-term health of over 32,000 people who helped clean up the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill or lived nearby. Researchers are comparing the health of workers who had direct exposure to oil and chemicals with those who did not, to understand if the spill caused lasting health problems. Participants provide health information and samples and are contacted every two years for a decade to monitor for issues like heart, lung, or immune system diseases.
