New study tests better way to reconstruct breasts after cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT07293052
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial compares two surgical flap techniques—Grisotti flap and reverse mirror Grisotti flap—for women with early-stage breast cancer in the central part of the breast. The study includes 106 women aged 25-70 with tumors up to 5 cm near the nipple. The main goal is to see which technique leads to better flap healing and fewer complications like tissue death.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Grisotti flap and reverse mirror Grisotti flap (surgical procedures)
What this could lead to
If one flap works better, it could improve healing and appearance after breast-conserving surgery for central tumors.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial with 106 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Both flaps carry risks like tissue death or poor cosmetic outcome.
