First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a daily grape polyphenol concentrate can reduce heart damage in women receiving certain chemotherapies for breast cancer. 120 women at high risk of heart problems will take either the supplement or a placebo for three months. Researchers will measure heart function and blood markers of injury at several time points.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
grape polyphenol concentrate
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement to reduce heart damage from certain breast cancer chemotherapies.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study, not yet recruiting. The supplement may not provide significant heart protection, and results may not apply to all patients.
