Summary

This study follows 50 adults with tophaceous gout who are starting or adjusting urate-lowering therapy. Researchers use a special CT scan (Dual-Energy CT) to measure how much the uric acid crystals in tophi shrink after 6 and 12 months of treatment. They also check whether bone erosions heal as the tophi get smaller. The goal is to better understand why some tophi dissolve faster than others and which locations respond best.
