New study tracks hidden hormone crisis in kids treated for leukemia
NCT ID NCT06861530
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how often children treated for leukemia or lymphoma develop a shortage of natural stress hormones (cortisol) after receiving high-dose steroids. Researchers will test 40 children at two Swiss hospitals to see how long the shortage lasts and which kids are most at risk. The goal is to help doctors better detect and manage this side effect, which can be dangerous but is hard to spot.
