Could a diabetes drug shield your brain from stroke and dementia?
NCT ID NCT05356104
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a GLP-1 drug, already used for diabetes, can slow down small vessel disease in the brain—a major cause of stroke, dementia, and mobility issues. About 110 adults aged 55 to 80 with moderate-to-severe disease will receive the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if it can prevent worsening of brain damage and thinking problems.
