New Low-Field MRI could make brain scans affordable for all

NCT ID NCT06947876

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simpler, cheaper type of MRI can spot signs of small vessel disease in the brain, a major cause of stroke and dementia. Researchers will scan 85 adults aged 50 and older who have this condition but no memory problems. The goal is to see if low-field MRI works as well as standard high-field MRI, which could make brain imaging more widely available.
