New drug trial offers hope to reduce lifelong IV dependence for gut failure patients

NCT ID NCT07197944

Summary

This study is testing whether a new injectable medication called glepaglutide can help adults with short bowel syndrome reduce their need for intravenous (IV) nutrition and fluids. About 90 participants will receive either the real drug or a placebo injection twice a week to see if it safely decreases the volume and number of days they need IV support. The goal is to help patients gain more independence from this burdensome treatment.
