Camera tech reveals true color of grafted gums

NCT ID NCT07199686

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether polarized digital photography can accurately measure the color of gum tissue after free gingival graft surgery. Fifty adults who had the surgery at least six months earlier had their gums photographed with and without a special filter. The goal was to see if this method gives more precise and consistent color readings than just describing the gum as 'pale pink' or 'salmon pink.'
