Blood clot bandages may speed gum surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT07439068

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether applying advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) or concentrated growth factor (CGF) membranes to the roof of the mouth after a gum graft could reduce pain and speed healing. Forty-five adults who needed a gum graft were randomly assigned to receive one of these treatments or a standard gelatin sponge. The researchers measured how quickly the wound closed and how much pain people felt over time.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) and concentrated growth factor (CGF) membranes

What this could lead to

If it works, this could lead to faster, less painful healing after gum graft surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 45 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are procedures, not drugs, and their benefit over standard care is uncertain.
