New study aims to predict Flare-Ups in blood vessel disease

NCT ID NCT07552636

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at better ways to monitor giant cell arteritis, a disease that causes inflammation in blood vessels and can lead to vision loss or aneurysms. Researchers will use ultrasound scans, patient questionnaires, and blood samples in 175 patients whose disease is currently quiet. The goal is to see if these tools can predict when a relapse might happen, helping doctors adjust treatment sooner and reduce the need for long-term steroids.
