Could 8 weeks of steroids be enough? new trial aims to cut treatment time for GCA
NCT ID NCT06833411
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study tests if people with giant cell arteritis can safely stop steroids after 8 weeks instead of the usual 26 weeks, when also taking the drug tocilizumab. About 178 participants will be randomly assigned to either the short or long steroid course. The goal is to see if the shorter course prevents relapses just as well while reducing steroid-related side effects.
