Can doctors handle genetic testing for cancer patients?

NCT ID NCT02917798

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at a new approach where cancer doctors offer genetic testing directly to patients with ovarian, prostate, or pancreas cancer, instead of referring them to a genetic counselor. The goal is to see how patients feel about this method and if it changes their distress levels. About 1,047 people took part, and researchers compared those who got genetic results by phone versus in person.
