Stool test flawed by your genes? study probes hidden bleeding clues

This study looked at whether certain genes that make people more prone to bleeding can cause a stool test for colon cancer to show a false-positive result. Researchers planned to collect saliva samples from people who had a raised stool blood test but a normal colonoscopy, and compare their genes to those with normal test results. The goal was to see if genetic differences could explain why some people get unnecessary colonoscopies. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants.
