Gene therapy takes on deadly brain tumors in new trial

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people newly diagnosed with aggressive brain cancers (glioblastoma or anaplastic astrocytoma). It combines a gene therapy (HSV-tk) with an antiviral drug, radiation, and chemotherapy. The goal is to see if this combination can help people live longer and keep the cancer from growing. About 62 participants will be followed for up to 5 years.
