Gene shield lets doctors supercharge chemo against deadly brain tumors

NCT ID NCT05052957

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with a fast-growing brain cancer called glioblastoma. Doctors take some of the patient's own blood stem cells, add a protective gene (P140K MGMT), and put them back. This allows the use of stronger chemotherapy to kill more cancer cells while protecting the bone marrow. The trial aims to see if this method helps patients live longer and tolerate treatment better.
