New insulin pump system put to the test in 400-Person safety trial
NCT ID NCT07228117
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study is checking if a new insulin pump (NMX8) and continuous glucose monitor (DS5/Simplera Sync) are safe for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. About 400 participants, ages 7 to 85, will first wear the sensor for up to 40 days, then use the pump for about 90 days while logging meals and exercise. The goal is to see how well the system keeps blood sugar in a healthy range and avoids dangerously low levels.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- MiniMed™ NMX8-AID insulin pump with DS5™/Simplera Sync™ continuous glucose monitor
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a safer, more convenient insulin pump system that helps people with diabetes better manage their blood sugar levels.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early safety study, not a large-scale effectiveness trial. The device may not improve outcomes for everyone, and there are always risks like pump malfunction or skin reactions.
