Summary

This study compares two minimally invasive surgeries for cancer at the top of the stomach or where the stomach meets the esophagus: removing only the upper part (proximal gastrectomy) versus removing the entire stomach (total gastrectomy). The goal is to see which approach leads to better appetite and fewer digestive symptoms in the year after surgery. Participants will complete symptom questionnaires before and at several points after their operation.
