First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at whether the pain medicine gabapentin harms kidney function after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (weight-loss surgery) in people with severe obesity. 90 patients with normal kidneys were enrolled. Researchers measured kidney markers in blood and urine before and 24 hours after surgery to see if gabapentin caused any changes.
