First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving gabapentin before bariatric surgery can lower pain levels and reduce the need for extra painkillers in the first 24 hours after surgery. About 102 adults with obesity scheduled for weight-loss surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either gabapentin or a placebo before their operation. The goal is to see if this simple addition to standard care can make recovery more comfortable.
