Common pain drug may shield kidneys during weight loss surgery
NCT ID NCT06254183
Summary
This study tested if the drug gabapentin could help protect kidney function in obese patients undergoing weight loss surgery. Researchers compared kidney health in 90 patients, measuring specific markers in the blood and urine before and after surgery. The goal was to see if using gabapentin instead of other painkillers could reduce the risk of a common post-surgery kidney complication.
