Dental implant shape linked to bone loss risk
NCT ID NCT06636097
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study examines whether the inner shape (concave or convex) of full-arch implant-supported dental prostheses is linked to bone loss around implants. Researchers will scan the prostheses and measure bone levels in 50 adults who have had these implants for at least a year. The goal is to see if certain shapes lead to more plaque buildup and bone loss, which could guide better implant design.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
full-arch implant-supported prosthesis with concave or convex intaglio shape
What this could lead to
If it works, this could help dentists design better-fitting dental prostheses to reduce bone loss around implants.
What could go wrong
This is a small, observational study that only looks at associations, not cause and effect. It may not lead to clear design guidelines.
