Herbal-Antibiotic combo aims to beat stubborn womb infection

NCT ID NCT07485842

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding FuKe Qianjin capsules, a Chinese herbal remedy, to standard antibiotics works better than antibiotics alone for chronic endometritis, a womb infection that can cause infertility and miscarriage. About 300 women aged 20-40 will take either the herbal capsules or a placebo for 56 days, along with 14 days of doxycycline. Researchers will check if the infection clears and if pregnancy rates improve over 6 months of follow-up.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
FuKe Qianjin Capsules (Chinese herbal preparation) plus doxycycline
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a more effective treatment for chronic endometritis, potentially improving fertility and reducing the need for repeated antibiotics.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 4 trial, but it's still early to know if the herbal capsules add real benefit. The study is small and only in China, so results may not apply to everyone. Side effects from the herbs or antibiotics are possible.
