Electric pulses may ease diabetic nerve damage and boost blood flow
NCT ID NCT07645482
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study investigates whether a device called FREMS, which delivers rhythmic electrical pulses to the legs, can improve blood flow, reduce nerve pain and numbness, and enhance quality of life in people with type 2 diabetes who have peripheral neuropathy and poor leg circulation. Forty participants will be randomly assigned to receive either FREMS sessions plus standard medication or standard medication alone. The goal is to see if the electrical stimulation offers added benefits beyond usual care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
frequency rhythmic electrical modulated stimulation (FREMS) device
What this could lead to
If effective, FREMS could offer a non-drug option to reduce pain, numbness, and improve blood flow in diabetic neuropathy patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The device may not outperform standard care, and individual responses can vary.
