First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving a diuretic (furosemide) during ureteroscopy surgery for medium-sized kidney stones (up to 30 mm) helps remove more stone fragments. 2000 adults were randomly assigned to receive the diuretic or standard care. The main goal was to see if the diuretic reduced leftover stone fragments, as seen on a CT scan four weeks after surgery.
