Mind over muscle: new rehab focus may boost ACL recovery

NCT ID NCT05342415

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether telling patients to focus on the movement itself (external focus) or on their own muscles (internal focus) during rehab exercises changes thigh muscle activation after ACL reconstruction. 24 people who had ACL surgery with a hamstring graft took part. The goal was to see if one focus technique helps reduce muscle inhibition and improve recovery.
