Vibrate your way to stronger muscles while lying in bed?
NCT ID NCT07021079
First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether a small vibrating device placed on the thigh can prevent muscle loss and weakness in healthy adults during a period of reduced activity. 42 participants will have one leg immobilized and either receive focal muscle vibration or no treatment. The goal is to see if this simple, non-invasive approach can maintain muscle strength and function.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
focal muscle vibration (device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-invasive way to prevent muscle weakness during bed rest or immobilization.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy volunteers, not patients. The results may not apply to real-world injury or illness, and the vibration might not prevent muscle loss as hoped.
