Fetal laser surgery for vasa previa: a promising approach that never launched
NCT ID NCT06290232
First seen Jun 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 03, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aimed to test a fetal surgery called fetoscopic laser photocoagulation for vasa previa, a condition where fetal blood vessels cover the womb opening, making vaginal delivery dangerous. The procedure would seal off these vessels to reduce bleeding risk and potentially allow a vaginal birth instead of a C-section. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so its safety and effectiveness remain unknown.
