Searching for the best way to give fluids to very sick liver patients
NCT ID NCT05059795
Summary
This study aimed to find the best way to determine how much fluid to give to critically ill patients with advanced liver disease (cirrhosis) who develop a dangerous infection causing low blood pressure. Researchers observed 350 patients to compare different measurement techniques, like ultrasound scans of a major vein and blood tests, to see which one most accurately guided fluid therapy. The goal was to improve care by helping doctors give the right amount of fluid at the right time to support these vulnerable patients.
