New ventilation technique may help doctors hit liver tumors more precisely
NCT ID NCT07291271
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested a new way of helping patients breathe during a procedure that destroys liver tumors with heat or electricity. The new method, called flow-controlled ventilation, keeps the diaphragm more still than standard methods, which could help doctors place needles more accurately. 41 adults having liver tumor ablation took part, and researchers compared how often doctors needed to switch breathing methods and how much the diaphragm moved.
