Paradox unlocked: normal cholesterol might hide diabetes risk, fish oil could help
NCT ID NCT04485871
Summary
This study explores a surprising link: having low 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) might actually increase the risk for type 2 diabetes. Researchers believe this happens when LDL enters fat tissue too easily. They are testing if a 6-month supplement of fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids) can treat this hidden risk factor in 48 middle-aged, overweight volunteers with normal LDL levels. The goal is to see if this common nutrient can help prevent diabetes.
