Can a fruit compound clear old cells and fight aging?
NCT ID NCT06431932
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests fisetin, a natural compound found in strawberries and apples, in healthy young adults and older people with multiple chronic diseases. Participants take fisetin or a placebo for two days and are followed for up to three months. The goal is to see if fisetin safely removes senescent (aging) cells and reduces inflammation, which could help manage age-related health problems.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
fisetin (a natural compound from fruits and vegetables)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a treatment that reduces chronic inflammation and age-related diseases by clearing old, damaged cells.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1/2 trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Fisetin's effects on humans are still uncertain, and side effects are possible.
