Summary

This phase 2 study tests whether fisetin, a natural compound found in fruits like strawberries, can reduce inflammation and frailty in adults aged 70 and older. Forty participants will receive either fisetin or a placebo pill. The goal is to see if fisetin lowers blood markers of inflammation and improves physical function.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

fisetin (a plant compound found in fruits and vegetables)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple supplement to help older adults feel less frail and reduce inflammation.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase pilot study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply widely. The supplement may not work better than a placebo.
