Liver scanner accuracy put to the test in new study

NCT ID NCT06877026

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at how consistent FibroScan, a non-invasive device that measures liver stiffness and fat, is when used by different operators on different days. 108 adults with fatty liver or alcohol-related liver disease had multiple scans and blood tests over two visits. The goal was to see if a newer guided version of the scan gives more reliable results than the standard version, which could help doctors better monitor liver disease without needing a biopsy.
