First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether a purified clotting medicine (fibrinogen concentrate) works as well as a standard blood product (cryoprecipitate) to control bleeding in infants after heart surgery. Thirty-one children under 2 years old were randomly assigned to receive one of the two treatments. The goal was to see if the concentrate could reduce the need for additional blood transfusions.
